Colin Kaepernick Named Face of Nike’s 30th Anniversary of ‘Just Do It’ Campaign

Back in April, Adidas made it known that it would be interested in signing embattled free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick if he ended up playing in the NFL this year. It turns out that the Three Stripes won’t have that opportunity, as Kap has quietly been under contract with Nike the entire time.

    What We Know:

    • Kaepernick broke news yesterday, taking to Twitter to show off a first look at Nike’s 30th anniversary “Just Do It” campaign. Simple and to the point, the spot features a close up of Kaepernick overlaid with text reading “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything.”
    • According to ESPN‘s Darren Rovell, Kaepernick has been under contract with the Swoosh since his original deal in 2011, though he has been sparingly used by the brand since his protests began making headlines.
    • Kaepernick remains a free agent heading into the NFL regular season, which kicks off this Thursday, Sept. 6. He last played for the San Francisco 49ers during the 2016 season.
    •  Other athletes featured in the 30th anniversary campaign include LeBron James, Serena Williams, and Odell Beckham Jr.

    Congrats to Kaep!
