Actress Regina Hall was presented with an honorary doctorate during Dillard University’s commencement on May 11th.

    What We Know:

    • Hall was announced as the commencement speaker in April for Dillard University which graduated more than 260 students this past weekend. The announcement was met with excitement from the students and the university president alike.
    • In a release announcing Hall, Dillard President Dr. Walter M. Kimbrough stated “The last few years have established her as a force, from the critically acclaimed Showtime series ’Black Monday,’ to the New Orleans based hit ’Girls Trip,’ and with the current comedy ”Little” out now with ’Shaft’ coming out this summer, she’s one of the hottest actresses today. She definitely has a message for our graduates.”
    • Hall was inspired to follow her dreams and passion after her father passed away more than 20 years ago and has since earned 7 different awards and 19 nominations for her work. She recently added the role of producer to her resume producing the award-winning “Black Monday” and was one of the executive producers for the 2019 film “Little.”
    • Hall earned an English degree from Fordham University and later received her master’s degree in Journalism from New York University’s Arthur L. Cater Journalism Institute. Now she can add doctorate to that list of degrees. “Just call me Dr. Hall from now on” stated Hall.
    • Dillard University is a private, historically black college and university with a focus on liberal arts based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The university was founded in 1930 but later incorporated schools founded as early as 1869.

Congratulations to Regina Hall, oh excuse us, Doctor Regina Hall!
