Apollo Nida has been released from prison and will finish the remainder of his sentence at a halfway house.
What We Know:
- Apollo Nida is the former husband of The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Phaedra Parks. The two were divorced in 2017, three years after Nida’s sentencing. Nida plead guilty to bank fraud and identity theft in January of 2014. He was sentenced to eight years in prison.
- At the time of sentencing, Nida’s lawyer Thomas D. Bever said, “Apollo is elated that this proceeding is past him and is no longer hanging over his head. It meant everything to him that his mother and brother spoke on his behalf. He’s okay, and will get through this.”
- Although he has been released from prison, he is not completely free as he will be spending the remainder of his sentence in a halfway house. Halfway houses are just that, a place halfway between jail and freedom, they are centers where people with illnesses or criminal backgrounds get a chance to adjust to life in general society. There are treatment programs, work requirements and curfew hours, and the residents may not partake in drugs or alcohol. If they break any rules, they could be sent back to prison.
- Nida is currently in Philadelphia and will be done with his sentence on October 15th according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons. When he is released, his fiancée, Sherien Amufti will be awaiting his arrival.
