    BET Awards recap; winners and losers

    Yesterday was the 2019 BET Awards. 

    What We Know:

    • The show was hosted by actress, Regina Hall. In regards to the nights’ winners, Childish Gambino won Video of the Year, Beyoncé won Best Female Pop/RNB artist, and Bruno Mars won Best Male Pop/R&B artist. Also among the winners was Cardi B as Best Female Hip Hop artist and the late Nipsey Hussle won Best Male Hip Hop artist. 
    • Mary J. Blige was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award and Nipsey Hussle was also remembered with the Humanitarian Award. It was no secret that Hussle was a pillar in the community, and did his best to help those around him. This award was a symbol of rememberence for not only him but for what he did in his community. 
    • Other winners in music included: Lil Baby for Best New artist, Migos for Best Group, Travis Scott featuring Drake for Best Collaboration, Cardi B’s debut album won album of the year, Ella Mai won Viewers Choice, and Snoop Dogg featuring Rance Allen won the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational song. 
    • There were winners in film as well. Regina King and Michael B. Jordan took home Best Male and Female Actor, BlacKkKlansman won Best Movie, and Marsai Martin won the Young Stars Award. 
    • For sports, Serena Williams and Stephen Curry won Sportsman and Sportswoman of the year. 

    The night was full of first time winners as well as some veterans who are just adding to their collections.
