World-renowned DJ and producer, Kygo, released a remake of Steve Winwood’s hit song “Higher Love” with Whitney Houston’s cover vocals landing her back on the Billboard charts.

    What We Know:

    • RCA Records released the remake on June 27 where it debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. The song sits at No. 63 on the Hot 100.
    • The track is a solid blend of creative production, a catchy dance beat and Houston’s powerful vocals. Kygo seamlessly put a modern twist on the classic.
    • Kygo created the song with Houston’s cover of “Higher Love” that was recorded in 1990. The cover was originally supposed to be released on her third album, “I’m Your Baby,” but it ended up being scrapped. The cover was only released in Japan on a bonus edition of the album, Billboard reported.
    • The producer was granted access to the original recordings by Houstons’ estate. He had total creative freedom during the process.
    • Houston’s estate manager and sister-in-law, Pat Houston, released a statement saying, “The resurgence of this precious archival performance will carry Whitney’s musical legacy on to a younger generation for years to come.” She continued, “Everyone should be ready to dance to this uplifting and inspiring record – a testament to Kygo’s incredible talent, and a reminder of why we fell in love with Whitney from the very beginning.”
    • Kygo told Rolling Stone he was trying to make the song “sound like something that she would’ve done, but also something that’s my style.”
    • This is the first time in 10 years Houston has appeared on the Billboard charts. The artist earned 11 No. 1 titles in her career.”Higher Love” is her 40th charted track.

It is nice to hear Whitney’s voice again!
