Times’ Front Page Layout in London gets some Laughs with Trump Story Placement

The Times newspaper in London ran a front page on Tuesday that quickly went viral for its formatting of two unrelated stories.

    What We Know:

    • Editors at the newspaper positioned a photograph and story about a dancing cockatoo with yellow hair who dances to the Backstreet Boys, alongside a story about Trump no longer wanting to have anything to do with the British ambassador to the U.S., Sir Kim Darroch.
    • Darroch described Donald Trump as “inept”, “insecure” and “incompetent” in a series of memos written from 2017 that got leaked. Trump fired back at Darroch via Twitter, calling the ambassador “wacky”, “a very stupid guy”, and a “pompous fool.”
    • It’s believed that the newspaper, which is owned by Republican Rupert Murdoch, chose the layout of their front page as a subtle way to fire back at Trump.
    • Coincidence maybe? People on Twitter beg to differ and found the editor’s use of juxtapositioning hilarious.

What are the odds that the Times staff have been sat on that parrot story for ages, waiting for a Trump headline to run the picture alongside? https://t.co/FGOGx1ZupN

Whether it was intentional or not, this front page is one for the books.
