Hong Kong’s International Airport has canceled dozens of flights and suspended all check-ins due to protests.

    What We Know:

    • Protestors in China began to fill the airport on Friday. The airport was forced to shut down on Monday due to the sit-in protests.
    • The protestors are a part of a 10-week protest movement for democracy and against police brutality. The protests initially began in response to a bill that would allow extradition to China, CNN reported.
    • Police have been deployed and many violent clashes have occurred since the demonstration began.
    • Hong Kong International Airport is one of the busiest transportation hubs in the world, it handles over 72 million passengers a year, according to Airports Council International.
    • Hong Kong leader, Chief Executive Carrie Lam, said the protests were putting the city on a “path of no return.”
    • As of right now, the protests are expected to continue into the week.

These protestors are certainly making their voices heard.
