Amir Griffin (14) was fatally shot while playing basketball at the Baisley Park Houses in Queens.

    What We Know:

    • At around 8 p.m. on Saturday, Griffin was shot in the neck, police do not believe he was the intended target of the shooting.
    • His aunt, Akiba Griffin, told the NY Post that her nephew “had been at a basketball game all day on Saturday and he came home and started playing himself and this happened”.
    • Police are still investigating the incident and are searching for two suspects according to a report by ABC7 NY.
    • A memorial of candles was placed on the court where the shooting took place to honor the young man.  Ron Naclerio, coach of Cardozo High School where Griffin attended said he was a promising athlete who would’ve made the school’s basketball team this year.

Anyone with information about the shooting should contact NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
