Sunday, Regina King won her first Critics’ Choice Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series; she won for her role in the hit HBO series Watchmen.

    What We Know:

    • The HBO show Watchmen premiered on October 20, 2019. The following day, Variety reported that the Watchmen premier drew in 1.5 million viewers.
    • According to Vulture, King expressed that she’d “absolutely” do a second season as the leading character Angela. King, then said, “I don’t want there to be a second season if it’s not going to at least be comparable to this first season, which is going to be really hard to do.”
    • Furthermore, in 2019, the actress won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Sharon Rivers in the hit drama/romance movie If Beale Street Could Talk.
    • The Watchmen actress, unfortunately, did not attend the Critics’ Choice Award, however, she did tweet her thanks for the stellar award on Twitter. “Thank you @CriticsChoice association!Jean Smart is everything!!! Congrats Lady. #WatchmenHBO”
