- Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, will hang up jersey no. 24 indefinitely in honor of the late NBA legend who wore the number throughout his career with the Lakers. “We are shocked and saddened by the devastating news of the passing of Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna,” Cuban said in a statement. “Kobe was an ambassador for our game, a decorated legend and a global icon. Above all, he was a loving and dedicated father.”
- “Kobe’s legacy transcends basketball, and our organization has decided that the number 24 will never again be worn by a Dallas Maverick,” Cuban advised.

- Kobe began his career wearing a No. 8 jersey, but decided to sport jersey No. 24 to mark the second half of his career in 2006. Kobe Bryant was a five-time NBA champion and 18-time all star.
