A hearse containing a dead body was stolen from outside a California church and has now been recovered after a police pursuit in Los Angeles, authorities advised.

    What We Know:

    • The SUV was stolen late Wednesday while it was parked outside a church in Pasadena with keys in the ignition and the engine running, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Maria Lucero told the NY post.
    • One suspect, who was not immediately identified, was taken into custody. A casket containing one deceased person was also found inside the vehicle, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department tweeted.
    • The Los Angeles Times reported the vehicle being a black Lincoln Navigator, which was located early Thursday after a driver called police to report the stolen ride. It eventually lead to a police chase on the southbound 110 Freeway that ended when the SUV crashed into at least one other vehicle.
    • “Huge THANK YOU to the good Samaritan that called law enforcement when they saw the stolen vehicle,” the agency wrote. “We also want to send condolences to the family members of the deceased person, who had to deal with this tragedy.”

It was not immediately clear whether anyone was hurt in the crash, which shut down all southbound lanes of the 110 Freeway in south Los Angeles early Thursday. The deceased person’s remains, were fortunately undisturbed, Sheriff’s Sgt. Benjamin Grubb told KTLA.
