Amidst earlier reports of a drastic schedule overhaul, The New York Post reports that ESPN Radio has finalized a deal with former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson to anchor a new morning show.

    What We Know:

    • Johnson, who has co-hosted mornings at ESPN owned “ESPN 710” KSPN Los Angeles since 2016, will relocate to the east coast with the show expected to release in mid-August. Potential co-hosts are reported to include Jason Fitz, Peter Rosenberg who co-hosts mornings on MediaCo Rhythmic CHR “Hot 97”, WEPN-FM evening host Chris Carlin.
    • The new show would replace Trey Wingo and Mike Golic in mornings. Wingo succeeded Mike Greenberg in mornings in 2017. The Post reports that Golic and Wingo’s contracts are up at the end of this year and that the company is in discussions with Greenberg to return to the radio lineup in addition to his hosting duties on ESPN’s Get Up morning show.
    • Changes continue to occur for ESPN Radio’s national lineup of shows. According to Ryan Glasspiegel and Bobby Burack of Outkick, Keyshawn Johnson and Max Kellerman could be their next morning duo.
    • According to Glasspiegel and Burack, Johnson is “in discussions with ESPN to join their morning radio show,” and the former NFL wide receiver prefers to have Kellerman added as his co-host. Currently, the morning spot for ESPN Radio is held by Mike Golic and Trey Wingo, but we can go far as back as last November to find the report from Glasspiegel and Burack stating Wingo may look to depart the show before the 2020 NFL season.
    • Currently, Johnson co-hosts the morning show on ESPN Radio in Los Angeles while Kellerman remains an integral part of First Take. It’s not known how hosting ESPN Radio’s national morning show would impact Kellerman’s role alongside Stephen A. on First Take. In addition to his prominent TV roles, Kellerman has also hosted weekday radio shows for ESPN in New York and Los Angeles.

Equally important to who will be hosting ESPN Radio’s morning show in a few months, is who won’t be hosting. While it’s been reported Wingo might be ready to give up the morning show position after just three years, his partner Mike Golic has been on the program for more than two decades, mostly alongside Mike Greenberg.
