Over the 4th of July weekend in Chicago, nearly 80 people have been wounded and 15 were killed since Friday night.

    What We Know:

    • Natalia Wallace, 7, was shot in the forehead while visiting her grandmother for a 4th of July party. She was taken to Stronger Hospital of Cook County where she died. According to reports, Wallace was playing on the sidewalk when a van pulled up and multiple people got out and began shooting in her direction. A man, 32, was also wounded but is listed in fair condition.
    • Another eight people were shot four hours later in Englewood and four of them died. There was a large gathering in the street when four men walked up and began shooting. A 14-year-old boy was shot in the back, a 29-year-old is in fair condition and a 35-year-old man is in critical condition. The 14-year-old was identified as Varnado Jones.
    • Police reported a mass shooting when a group of people were shooting fireworks. A car pulled up and began shooting at the group. Six people were shot including a 28-year-old, shot in the head and abdomen, who later died. The other five victims were between the ages of 27 and 44 years of age and are listed in good condition.
    • Police Supt. David Brown spoke after the violent weekend stating, “On behalf of the Chicago Police Department, I extend my deepest, deepest condolences and sympathies to all the families. We cannot allow this to be normalized. We cannot get used to children being gunned down in Chicago every weekend.” He says he wants to revamp the electronic monitoring system.
    • President Trump also addressed the shootings in a tweet.
