9-year-old Javonni Carson was shot while filming a TikTok video in East Atlanta.

    What We Know:

    • Javonni Carson was one of three people injured in the shooting that happened on Wednesday night along Flat Shoals Road in the East Atlanta Village.
    • The rising fourth grade honor roll student was hit four times in his left leg while he was recording TikTok videos with his other siblings when someone in a car drove by and began shooting into the crowd of people.
    • Police reported finding 42 shell casings scattered in the street.
    • Carson’s mother, Keyona Carson, said her other two children witnessed the shooting. “They were there also, they saw all those guns, blood and seen the fire of those bullets as people fell in front of them and hid and ran and screamed for help,” she stated.
    • “My 11-year-old said he was trying to crawl over to (Javonni), but there were already so many people on the ground,” Keyona said. “I didn’t know anything until I got to the hospital. I just knew he’d been shot.”
    • The incident was captured on a surveillence camera outside Gaja Korean Bar. Police said a dark-colored vehicle drove through the parking lot and someone inside began shooting into the crowd. Some bystanders ran away, while others crouched behind parked cars for cover. One man pulled out a handgun and returned fire, authorities said.
    • According to police, the suspect’s vehicle fled west on Glenwood Avenue toward Moreland Avenue.
    • Since the shooting, Javonni has had surgery to repair his shattered femur and is recovering at a local hospital.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family pay for medical bills. So far they have raised $6,850 of their $20,000 goal. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Atlanta police.
