Zappos now sells single shoes and mixed-size pairs catered to shoppers who have different size feet, as well as those with prosthetics.

    What We Know:

    • Zappos is owned by Amazon. They offer Nike, BILLY Footwear, Converse, PLAE, Stride Rite, and New Balance.
    • Shoe needs for people with disabilities and specific health conditions is growing. The shoes will be available Tuesday in all sizes and widths, from toddler to adult, and they range in price from $17.50 to $85.
    • Zappos Adaptive started in 2017 to, “connect people with products that make getting dressed easier for everyone” according to the company. They carry shoes catered to disabilities or dexterity issues, with features like zippers and velcro around the front or back for an easier way to slip on shoes. “But we’ve been getting many requests over the years from people asking us if we can also sell them a single shoe or different sized pairs,” said Dana Zumbo, Business Development Manager with Zappos Adaptive, the company’s program that caters to shoppers with disabilities.
    • A shoe ordered for single or mixed-sized shoes will be fulfilled from Zappos’ existing inventory and specially packaged at its warehouse, Zappos said. “The shoes will be put in a resealable bag and then in a Zappos white box for shipping,” Zumbo said.

The new Zappos Adaptive options are expected to reach $10.6 billion by 2024, up from $8 billion in 2020, according to market research firm Coresight Research.
