The former Husky died of unknown causes Tuesday at his family home in Birmingham, Alabama, CBS News reports.

    What We Know:

    • Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said Robinson was found unresponsive Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene 11 minutes later.
    • The 6’9 forward played for the University of Connecticut from 2006-2010, averaging 9.8 points and 6.2 rebounds a game throughout his career. He scored 1,231 points, racked in 776 rebounds and had 130 blocks with UConn and was the starting forward on the teams 2008-2009 Final Four team. In his younger days at Huffman High School, he was named Alabama’s Mr. Basketball, an honor awarded to the best player in the state.
    • The UConn Men’s Basketball Twitter account expressed their sympathies, calling Robinson “a great player and an even greater person.”

The UConn Basketball family grieves the loss of a great player and an even greater person, Stanley “Sticks” Robinson. Our thoughts and prayers are with Stanley’s family at this difficult time 🙏

    • Hall of Famer and former UConn head Men’s Basketball coach Jim Calhoun said he is “truly heartbroken,” in a statement. “Stanley was such a beautiful person, caring and giving. He was a gentle soul, too gentle for this world. He was not only loved by his teammates, but everybody who met Sticks liked him. He will always be a Husky.”
    • In the 2010 NBA Draft, Robinson was drafted by the Orlando Magic in the second round but was waived on the last day of training camp. He later played professionally in Canada, Iceland, and Chile.

Deputy Coroner Yates stated Birmingham police are investigating the death. There appears to be no evidence found of foul play or trauma. The official cause of death is pending results of a toxicology analysis.
