After a few days with no update, former 2012 Republican candidate Herman Cain, remains hospitalized almost one month after contracting COVID-19, according to his team on Twitter Monday.

    What We Know:

    • A thread of tweets gave insight towards the condition of Cain’s health, reassuring followers that the 74-year-old is doing well. Apart from still receiving oxygen, all other aspects of his body are in perfect working order.

We know it’s been a few days since we last gave you an update on the boss. But he is still in the hospital being treated with oxygen for his lungs. In the meantime, the doctors say his other organs and systems are strong.

    • Many were hit with the abrupt news of Cain testing positive with coronavirus around June 29th, via a statement on his Twitter account. He was later hospitalized at an Atlanta-area hospital after serious symptoms started developing, about two days later.
    • Cain was diagnosed with coronavirus less than two weeks after he participated in President Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which was around the same time cases began to surge again. His attendance was due in part by the fact that he is a co-chair for Black Voices For Trump, a group that encourages the black community to re-elect Trump.
    • Despite the several thousands of people that still ended up going to the rally, Cain tweeted a picture of himself on June 20th, without a mask at the event.
    • According to CBS46, an editor for Hermancain.com, Dan Calabrese, spoke in regard to how Cain could have been infected. He made a note of the speculation surrounding the Tulsa Rally but also said: “Herman did a lot of traveling the past week, including to Arizona where cases are spiking.”
    • The Trump campaign confirmed some of its staffers tested positive in the weeks after the event. Since then, there have been no other comments on the cases or the individuals’ health record information. There was no reported contact between the President and Cain during the rally.

As for Cain’s own medical record, it’s not the first time he’s been hospitalized. He battled colon and liver cancer in 2006, which went into remission after tedious chemotherapy and surgeries. In the same Twitter statement that announced Cain’s diagnosis, his team recalled that previous battle and noted that he was “a fighter who has beaten Stage 4 cancer”.
