Kevin Hart defends Ellen Degeneres after allegations have surfaced of her workplace culture.

    What We Know:

    • Degeneres, 62 is the host of “The Ellen Degeneres Show” which is currently under investigation after multiple allegations have been brought to light about her show’s workplace culture. Hart posted to Instagram about his support of Degeneres during this time. He expresses how sad he is to see his friend going through this stating that Degeneres has been nothing but “nice” to his family since they met.
    • In the post, Hart states, “I have known Ellen for years and I can honestly say that she’s one of the dopest people on the f—— planet. She has treated my family and team with love and respect from day 1.” He says the internet is a place of negativity and that people are enjoying seeing other people’s down falls. He expressed that he did not want to shut down the allegations by those who came forward but instead wanted to shine a light on the person he knew Degeneres to be.
    • Last year, Degeneres stood by Hart when he was in the spotlight over his homophobic tweets. He stepped down from hosting the 2019 Oscars after he said he would not apologize for his comments. Degeneres invited Hart on her show and as a member of the LGBTQ community, she accepted his apology. She stated that she thought Hart had grown as a person and that she wanted to see him host the Oscars although it continued without a host.
    • On social media, Degeneres’ wife, Portia de Rossi stood by her as well as singer Katy Perry, Nacho Figueras and Scooter Braun. Degeneres later issued an apology which explained the environment in her workplace. Warner Bros. interviewed former employees and stated that they were “disappointed that the primary findings of the investigation indicated some deficiencies related to the show’s day-to-day management.” The allegations included alleged sexual misconduct and harassment involving show producers.

The producers of the show have denied the allegations and have denied to commenting on them.
