President Trump has been nominated for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize by a member of the Norwegian Parliament for his efforts in the Israel-UAE peace deal.
What We Know:
- In early August, President Trump was able to broker peace between Israel and the United Arab Emirates. Following many conversations, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed, and President Trump were able to agree to the full normalization of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
- In a joint statement released by Benjamin Netanyahu and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed the “diplomatic breakthrough” came at the request of President Trump.

- The Nobel Peace Prize nomination was submitted by Christian Tybring-Gjedde, a member of the Norwegian Parliament. Tybring-Gjedde explained to Fox News, “For his merit, I think he has done more trying to create peace between nations than most other Peace Prize nominees… facilitating contact between conflicting parties.”
- Christian Tybring-Gjedde’s nomination letter also included the president’s key role in mitigating other conflicts like the Kashmir border dispute between India and Pakistan and prompting conversations with North and South Korea earlier this year.
- The president’s efforts towards advancing peace in the Middle East will encourage the two leaders to focus efforts on expanding ties with other countries in the Arab and Muslim world and additionally work towards resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
