A spinoff of Snowfall, which would see Gail Bean star and reprise her role from the original series, is in early development at FX.

Deadline first reported the news. Snowfall is currently in the middle of its sixth and final season.

The post ‘Snowfall’ Spinoff Starring Gail Bean In Early Development At FX With ‘Captain America 4’ Writer appeared first on Shadow And Act.

Bean recurred in seasons 2-5 as Wanda Simmons and was upped to series regular for season 6.

No details are known about the project at the time, including if any other Snowfall stars would reprise their roles as well.

Malcolm Spellman will executive produce and write the pilot. Spellman, an Empire alum, was the head writer for Disney+’s Marvel series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and will write Marvel’s Captain America: New World Order.

Returning from the original series to executive produce are Snowfall co-creator and showrunner Dave Andron, as well as Trevor Engelson, Michael London, Tommy Schlamme and Julie DeJoie.

Deadline notes that John Singleton could get a posthumous producing credit. Eric Amadio and Evan Silverberg also could get credit.

Bean and co-star recently spoke to Shadow and Act about the show’s final season and potential spinoffs.

“You know what John does so beautifully is he creates a stage for us to grow and be bigger than when we came into the situation,” she said. ” So many characters have grown and their demand has grown. So you don’t want to trap them into something for 20 years or 16 or 18 seasons you want to do other things with. So it’s saying, ‘OK, there is not enough time to do it….so it’s now we let people go off and do other things.’ It’s time to grow and expand. But yeah, these are easily enough stories that could go on forever because some people live [and] some people die. But regarding spinoffs, you just got to watch the whole season and see if that would happen. Who would be the ideal characters? How could this go? How would you see it? You know, we are in the ’80s right now. So then after that, then what’s next?”

Snowfall stars Damson Idris stars the young California man who rose in the ranks of the crack cocaine drug business to reach the top, but the final season follows how he could lose everything. As FX states, the series has followed “how an off-the-books CIA operation contributed to the destruction rock cocaine leveled upon the vibrant community of South Central L.A.”
