*Daniel Penny, the ex-Marine who is charged with manslaughter for choking out and subsequently killing Jordan Neely on a New York City subway, says the killing was not race related.
“This had nothing to do with race,” Daniel Penny said in a New York Post interview on Saturday.
Penny faces second-degree manslaughter charges for the death of Neely aboard a moving train on Monday, May 1. Penny calls that framing of the situation (he’s white. Neely was Black) “a little bit comical.”
“I judge a person based on their character,” Penny told the New York Post. “I’m not a white supremacist… I’m a normal guy.”
