*Wendy Williams’ brother, Tommy Williams Jr., claims she is demonstrating “significant progress” during her stay at an undisclosed treatment center.
As we reported earlier, Williams’ medical care team confirmed last week that she was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
According to a press release, Williams, 59, was officially diagnosed last year. She has been contending with various other health challenges, including Graves’ disease, lymphedema, and alcohol abuse.
“When I speak to Wendy, she sounds fine. Wendy has improved,” Tommy told Us Weekly. “I know my sister from where she was to where she is now, and she has a substantial amount of improvement.”
Tommy added, “It’s dialogue and conversation, topics, content, speech pattern, everything.”
Tommy, 56, noted that the former daytime talk show host “was in a worse state” when she participated in the recently aired Lifetime documentary “Where Is Wendy Williams?”,” which was filmed between 2022 and 2023.
“Now [she is in] a different state,” Tommy added.
Meanwhile, Wendy’s sister, Wanda Finnie, and niece, Alex Finnie, tell People that Williams is “in a wellness, healing type of environment.” to address cognitive issues.
“I spoke with her yesterday and I speak with her very regularly when she reaches out to me. She is, from what I understand, in a wellness, healing type of environment,” Wanda said, per People.
“We cannot reach out to her, but she can reach out to us. And she is in a healing place emotionally. She’s not the person that you see in this film.”
Williams’ medical team said she is “still able to do many things for herself” amid her health issues.
“Most importantly, she maintains her trademark sense of humor and is receiving the care she requires to make sure she is protected and that her needs are addressed. She is appreciative of the many kind thoughts and good wishes being sent her way,” they added.
