*In a letter written by his chief of staff, Milo Yiannopoulos, Kanye West insists that media outlets and music industry entities adhere strictly to West’s new name, Ye.

West’s appeal follows the October 2021 approval of his official name change by a Los Angeles judge. In the letter, the rapper draws parallels between himself and the Pope.

“He didn’t take the decision to change his name, potentially sacrificing some of the immense value captured by the brand ‘Kanye West,’ lightly,” the letter reads. “The change was made fully, legally, and permanently. This is who he is now. His name is Ye.”

Yiannopoulos added, “He has on several occasions referred to it as his slave name. Ye is a black man in America who wants the right to full self-determination just like everyone else.”

In related news, we reported earlier that Ye plans to release his “Vultures 2” album for $20 on his website after claiming streaming is a new form of piracy.

“Was talking with the team about how to release the next album. Like James Blake said streaming devalues our music. We sell albums on Yeezy.com,” West said during a conversation with the YEFANATICS fan page on Instagram, Complex reports.  “I got 20 million Instagram followers. When five percent of my followers buy an album. That’s one million albums sold That’s 300K more than the biggest album last year.”

He added, “We sold 1 million items on Yeezy.com on Super Bowl Sunday so we know it’s possible. How do you feel about us not streaming and only selling the album digitally.”

In a separate post, Ye said, “It would be nice for our community to support the albums” via his website because “Streaming is basically pirating.”

“Vultures 2” is the rapper’s collaborative album with Ty Dolla Sign.
