Would You Sleep On The Side Of A Cliff At This Hanging Hotel? – Travel Noire

When it comes to travel, there’s run-of-the-mill, off-the-beaten-path, and then there’s death-defying – a category firmly owned by the Skylodge Adventure Suites. Imagine dangling precariously off the edge of a cliff, suspended hundreds of feet in the air. Instead of gripping for dear life, you’re wrapped in luxurious linens, a glass of fine wine in hand, watching the sunset over the Peruvian landscape. That’s Skylodge Adventure Suites for you, a hotel where the line between extreme adventure and luxury blurs like never before.

    An Unconventional Hotel Stay

This isn’t your typical hotel experience. If heights send you into a cold sweat, then sticking to the beach resorts isn’t such a bad idea. Skylodge is for the brave and the bold. Located in the Sacred Valley of Cuzco, these transparent capsules offer once-in-a-lifetime views of the mystical Andean landscapes—but getting there is half the adventure. Your experience begins with a climb – a literal climb. Guests have two options to reach their accommodations: a Via Ferrata route scaling the cliffside or a network of zip lines.

It’s an exhilarating challenge that rewards you with an unforgettable entrance and jaw-dropping vistas that most can only dream of. It’s not every day you check into your hotel via carabiner and harness, but then again, Skylodge is anything but ordinary. When you get to your capsule, you’ll see something indescribable. These pods, clinging to the rock face, are feats of modern engineering. Each suite, made of aircraft aluminum and high-resistance polycarbonate, is a comfortable haven in the most unlikely of settings. Inside, you’ll discover comfortable beds, downy blankets, and comforts that defy the harshness of the environment. There’s something profoundly surreal about lounging in such comfort while suspended over a void.

    The Things That Matter

Now, let’s talk about the elephant in the room: the bathrooms. With the private facilities available in these lofty boudoirs, you can enjoy your most private moments while gazing out over the valley below. Your bathroom selfie game will reach stratospheric new heights after this experience.

Dining at Skylodge is also an affair to remember. As night falls, guests are treated to a sumptuous dinner, complete with wine pairings. The food is not just sustenance but part of the overall experience – gourmet dishes that celebrate local ingredients, served in a setting that’s literally above the clouds.

The most magical moment comes after dinner, though, as you settle into your capsule for the night. The lack of light pollution at such an altitude means the stars come out in full force, turning the sky into a glittering beauty. Your suite’s transparent ceiling offers an uninterrupted view of the cosmos; a private light show that lulls you into a peaceful sleep.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind

Of course, a stay at Skylodge has its quirks. Those with a need for midnight snacks or prone to sleepwalking should perhaps reconsider – the only way out is the way you came in, and rappelling down a cliff face is not recommended in your pajamas. But for those who are up for the adventure, it’s a small price to pay for such an extraordinary experience.
