    JW Marriott Opens New ‘Mindful Haven’ Hotel in Kenya – Travel Noire

    One of Marriott’s highly-anticipated properties is now open. The JW Marriott Hotel Nairobi, located in Nairobi, Kenya, is an exciting recent development in the area.

    The hotel is Marriott’s first property in Nairobi. The global hotel brand says it was designed intentionally, with mindfulness for mind, body, and soul.

     “The unveiling of JW Marriott Hotel Nairobi marks our exciting debut in the vibrant heart of Kenya’s capital city, solidifying our steadfast expansion in Africa, and reinforcing our global footprint,” Bruce Rohr, JW Marriott’s vice president & global brand leader, said in a press release.

    The brand leader said the hotel’s opening is part of Marriott’s continued commitment to wellness. 

    Mindfully Well

    Located about twenty minutes from local airport, JW Marriott Hotel Nairobi became the tallest hotel in Kenya, at 35 stories high and offers guest unparalleled views of the city’s natural beauty.

    Described as “ultra modern” on its website, the luxury hotel has 315 rooms and 51 serviced apartments. The guest room options include a standard king or two double beds as well as club-level rooms and junior suites. The hotel also offers one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments. 

    The decor is inspired by the city itslef, with an interior that meshes with Kenya’s heritage and landscape. According to the press release, the hotel’s designer envisioned it to feel like the “spiirt and story of an African adventure,” with many earth-toned colors native to to the savannah and safaris of the continent.

    What Matters Most

    Other design choices inside the hotel include rich textures and textiles, like handmade ceramics, murals, and sculptures. Each is said to highlight the culture of the country.

    “JW Marriott Hotel Nairobi perfectly embodies the city’s contemporary yet mindful urban lifestyle. The property combines the warmth of African hospitality with serene spaces where guests can disconnect from distraction, focus on the present moment, and reconnect with what matters most to them,” Helen Leighton, vice president, luxury brand and communication for Marriott International, Europe, Middle East and Africa, said in the release.

    The mindfulness concept continues through the hotels from the rooms to amenities. The hotel spa will offer specialized experiences for guests, including massages and beauty services. At the gym, guests can expect a yoga studio, an outdoor terrace, and a steam room.

    Other amenities include a swimming pool, special event spaces five dining options and a pool bar and lounge set to open later in 2024.
