For those who travel frequently, seeking new regions and novel experiences is part of the thrill. The problem is that getting to these locations often involves complex and time-consuming travel routes, making these kinds of trips inconvenient for most people. However, new airports are popping up in some of the world’s most sought-after spots, so getting there won’t be an issue anymore. These airports will transform travel to some of the most coveted places, making dreams come true for many.

The Amalfi Coast, famous for its coastline, which is all over Instagram, has long been a favorite among vacationers. However, getting to this gorgeous place has historically required a long voyage. To arrive here, the trip generally goes via Naples. Come 2026, the journey to the Amalfi Coast will become much simpler with the opening of its own commercial airport.

    Tulum, Mexico

If there’s a beach town everyone seems to love or dream of in Mexico, then it’s Tulum. The city, known for its beaches, forests, and historical attractions, was formerly only accessible via a long drive from Cancún. With the inauguration of the Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport, things have changed. The airport opened for domestic flights in December 2023 and will start welcoming international flights on March 28, 2024. Reaching Tulum has now become much more convenient.

Dominica, the “Nature Island” of the Caribbean, makes you feel like you walked into a paradise. The island, known for its unspoiled beauty and Creole culture, was accessible only through a regional airport with just three gates. Now, a new international airport is under construction. Slated to be completed by 2026, this airport will make travel to Dominica much more straightforward.

Peru’s Sacred Valley, home to the famous archaeological site of Machu Picchu, is set to become more accessible to international travelers. A new airport, Chinchero Airport, is currently under construction right in the Sacred Valley. When it opens in 2026, it will serve as a direct gateway to Machu Picchu. The airport will be able to accommodate nonstop flights from North America and major cities throughout South America.

Bhutan, the Himalayan Buddhist country, will gain a second international airport as part of an ambitious initiative to build a new contemporary city called Gelephu Mindfulness City. This new metropolis will include a university, cultural and spiritual centers, and healthcare services. Located near the current town of Gelephu, its new airport will provide an essential option for travelers looking to visit Bhutan’s southern and western regions.

Sydney, Australia, is known for its iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House and its proximity to natural wonders like the Blue Mountains National Park. Travelers to Sydney used to land in the city’s eastern part, which is quite far from these inland attractions. The Western Sydney Airport, set to start operations in 2026, will provide an ideal gateway for those wanting to explore these attractions.
