Where To Celebrate Independence Day: Top July 4th Destinations

Independence Day, most commonly called the Fourth of July, is a significant day in the history of the United States. Celebrated as the birth of American Independence, July 4 marks the day that Congress signed the Declaration of Independence. This document declared the nation’s independence from British rule and began a new phase for the colonies.

Typically, people in America celebrate Independence Day in many ways. There are parades, festivals, barbeques, picnics, concerts, carnivals, fairs, and more. In the Black community, many people use the holiday to gather with their loved ones and even hold family reunions during their time off work. In addition to the Juneteenth holiday, this day is a chance for Black people in America to reflect on and celebrate the triumphs of the country. Regardless of how people spend their day during this holiday, there is one thing that always unites people across different cultures.

The most popular way to celebrate the country is through grand fireworks displays. Fireworks have been an annual tradition since the first Independence Day in 1776. Elaborate fireworks shows have almost become an art during the Fourth of July, so some people may be compelled to travel and see the biggest displays. This is a busy time to travel but it is well worth the effort. Many destinations have various appealing ways to celebrate Independence Day, but there are a few front runners for a celebration like no other.

WalletHub’s new study highlights where travelers should go for one of America’s biggest holidays. The company determined the top destinations by considering many different factors—18 things to be exact. Some of the most important things travelers will appreciate about the rankings are that they factor in the duration of fireworks shows, cost of drinks, weather, quality of attractions, and safety levels. This study compared 100 of the largest U.S. cities to determine if traveling there for the Fourth of July holiday is worth it. These destinations offer some of the best ways to celebrate Independence Day in the country.
