This Black woman media mogul is buying back the block. Dr. Vonnya Pettigrew makes history as the first Black woman to own a block on Baltimore’s Waterfront. Read more about her powerful story inside.

Dr. Pettigrew is making major moves! This powerhouse media mogul, and CEO of Root Branch Media Group, is reclaiming space and making history. Root Branch Media Group, a full-service media production company, gets its name from her family’s property on Root Branch Road in South Carolina, as reported by The Baltimore Times.

The Philadelphia native kicked off her media career after earning her bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland College Park. She cut her teeth as an intern in speech writing for President Clinton and later interned for a political news show on Capitol Hill.

Still, Dr. Pettigrew didn’t stop there. She taught herself scriptwriting and went on to produce content for TV One and Discovery Channel. Her hustle and talent have obviously paid off, leading to a thriving media empire.

Recently, she returned to her Maryland roots to make a groundbreaking purchase: an entire block in Baltimore. With this bold move, she made history as the first Black woman to own a block on Baltimore’s waterfront in Canton Harbor.

This isn’t just a business acquisition, but it’s a bold statement. Pettigrew is calling this new development “The Root Branch Multiverse,” where all her media ventures will come together under one roof.

Dr. Pettigrew’s story is a testament to the power of vision, hard work, and breaking barriers. She’s not just creating a legacy for herself but also paving the way for future generations in the media industry. Her journey from a political intern to a media mogul owning a piece of Baltimore’s prime real estate is nothing short of inspiring.

Keep an eye on Dr. Vonnya Pettigrew and Root Branch Media Group as they continue to rise and redefine the media landscape. She’s not just buying back the block; she’s building an empire.

    Congrats, Dr. Pettigrew!
