The long-awaited report into Trump’s election interference efforts in the lead-up to the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol is expected to come out just days before Trump takes the oath of office.

    What We Know:

    • Partial Report Release Approved: Federal Judge Aileen Cannon denied a request to extend the injunction barring the release of a section of former special counsel Jack Smith’s report on Donald Trump’s 2020 election interference efforts, allowing its publication as early as midnight, while prohibiting the release of sections related to classified documents.
    • Pending Legal Actions: The Justice Department awaits a decision from the 11th Circuit on releasing the report’s January 6-related portions, while a hearing is set to determine if the classified documents section can be shared with Congress.

Justice in Limbo: While the election interference report may soon be released, justice regarding Trump’s federal felony charges was hindered by delays and dropped after his 2024 election victory, leaving unresolved questions about accountability.
