10 Power Moves: Your Action Plan for the Resistance

Look, I’m going to keep it real with you – we’re entering one of the most challenging phases of American democracy. But here’s what the MAGA movement doesn’t want you to know: Their power depends entirely on making you feel helpless. Let’s flip the script.

Here are ten concrete ways to maintain your power and protect democracy in 2025.

    1. Reject the Powerless Narrative

Stop with the “democracy is dead” talk. Seriously. Every time you spread hopelessness, you’re doing MAGA’s marketing for free. Instead, channel that energy into action. No authoritarian regime lasts forever – history proves that. Our job isn’t to predict the future; it’s to shape it.

    2. Build Local Power

While everyone’s fixated on DC drama, real change is happening in your backyard. Get involved in your city council, school board, or neighborhood association. Trump’s playbook depends on weak local institutions. Don’t let them have it. Show up to meetings. Run for local office. Build the foundation they can’t crack.

    3. Master the Information Game

Social media’s got your brain on a dopamine drip of outrage. Break free. Block the clickbait. Subscribe to legitimate news sources – journalism needs your support now more than ever. And please, for the love of democracy, fact-check before you share. False stories and conspiracy theories are MAGA’s favorite weapon. Don’t be their ammunition.

    4. Connect Beyond the Political

Here’s what authoritarians fear most: communities that can’t be divided. Build real relationships with neighbors, regardless of political differences. Host community events. Start local projects. Strong social bonds are kryptonite to authoritarian control.

    5. Support the Culture Makers

Artists, writers, musicians – these aren’t just “nice to haves.” They’re essential soldiers in the fight for democracy. Buy their work. Attend their shows. Share their creations. Cultural resistance has toppled dictators before. It can happen again.

    6. Focus Your Fight

Stop amplifying Trump’s every move. That’s playing his game. Instead, concentrate on building and supporting pro-democracy initiatives. Don’t waste energy arguing with MAGA devotees – focus on activating the massive pro-democracy majority that’s waiting to be energized.

    7. Get Financially Strategic

Democracy needs resources. Set up monthly donations to key organizations fighting for voting rights and democratic institutions. Support pro-democracy businesses. Boycott those funding authoritarianism. Your wallet is a weapon – use it wisely.

    8. Guard Your Energy

This is a marathon, not a sprint. Establish a sustainable rhythm. Exercise. Rest. Stay healthy. The revolution needs you at full strength, not burned out from doomscrolling at 3 AM.

    9. Document Everything

Authoritarians thrive in darkness. Be a light. Record interactions with authorities. Save screenshots. Back up evidence. Share responsibly. Create an undeniable record of resistance.

    10. Build Tomorrow Today

While they’re trying to drag us backward, start building the future you want to see. Support youth organizations. Mentor newcomers to activism. Plant community gardens. Launch cooperative businesses. Create the democratic institutions that will outlast this moment.

Remember: Democracy isn’t just something that happens to us – it’s something we do together, every day. These aren’t just suggestions; they’re your blueprint for powerful resistance in 2025.
