Update 9/6/19 10:00 AM ET: Dorian has made landfall in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, as a Category 1 storm with maximum sustained winds near 90 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center.  Here is the latest advisory from NHC who is also no tracking Tropical Storm Gabrielle. A federal judge blocked a restrictive abortion ban that would have taken effect in Missouri Wednesday while it is contested in court. What We Know: The law would ban abortions at or after eight weeks of pregnancy and enforce a series of strict restrictions making Missouri one of the most restrictive states in the country with regards to abortion. The legislation, which passed the House of Representatives in a 110 to 44 vote, states that abortion is restricted to a medical emergency with criminal consequences for the seeker and provider. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will reprogram and transfer $271 million to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from elsewhere in the department, $155 million of which will come from FEMA. What We Know: The decision comes as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will now find itself down $155 million dollars approaching the impending Tropical Storm Dorian expected to reach Puerto Rico Wednesday as a hurricane. Republican Joe Walsh announced his campaign for the 2020 presidency Sunday. What We Know: Walsh announced his candidacy in a video on ABC’s “This Week,” asserting that his campaign is about throwing away conventions and being brave. “Today I’m declaring my candidacy for President of the United States because it’s time, it’s time to be brave,” he said. Two children were killed and at least 11 injured after a stolen police car crashed into two cars. What We Know: A stabbing suspect crashed into two vehicles in Dayton, Ohio on Monday in a stolen police car. Police received a report of a stabbing on Monday evening, but the suspect had fled the scene upon arrival. After he fled the scene, the suspect crashed his red pickup truck into a tree, at which point he got out of the vehicle and stole a police car. New York state’s “Red Flag Law” took effect Saturday allowing for increased gun control in the state and supplementing other gun control measures approved by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. What We Know: The Red Flag Law, also known as the extreme risk protection order, allows New York law enforcement officials, school officials or family members to seize the firearms of people considered to be a threat with the permission of the courts.
