*”Club Shay Shay’s” shift from where it was when it debuted to its place as one of the hottest podcasts around is not lost on D.L. Hughley.

In his eyes, ‘Club Shay Shay, which featured host Shannon Sharpe’s infamous interview with Katt Williams in January, has become a victim of the public’s “voracious appetite for mess.”

“I do think that there is a voracious appetite for mess,” Hughley said during a recent episode of “The Jason Lee Show” while commenting on “Club Shay Shay” and confirming the messy rivalry between comedians.

“It just didn’t have the apparatus for expounding.”

Once Jason Lee mentioned “Club Shay Shay,” Hughley reflected on the podcast’s beginnings with Black men embracing and supporting it after seeing “what Skip Bayless did to Shannon Sharpe on ‘Undisputed,’” according to Ice Crean Conversations.

“We wanted him to know – we got you!” the comedy icon explained. “My problem with it is that the very men who appeared on that show when it wasn’t as huge as it was did it out of a sense of trying to help a man out. And everything they said was curated and basically used against them in another interview. That’s problematic for me.”

Despite Sharpe coming into his own with a stellar pro football career and an established podcast in ‘Club Shay Shay,’ Hughley confessed to seeing shades of former radio host/daytime talk show queen Wendy Williams in the NFL Hall of Famer.

“I think that Wendy Williams didn’t get off air – she just got a weight set and a lisp,” the entertainer bluntly said. “I think that’s how messy it is.”
