OH YOU TRAVEL TRAVEL!: 6 TIPS TO HELP YOU TRAVEL LIKE A PRO

If you travel, you know how important it is to make the most out of every vacation. Whether you’re going to explore new cultures, or experience local cuisine, or just get away from it all, you want every trip to be the trip of a lifetime. And when you’re a Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card Member, there are so many ways to elevate your next adventure.

From ways to travel like a local, to picking the perfect travel partner, here are six tips to help you have the best trip, every time.

    1. Become A Very Frequent Flyer

When it comes to travel, the more you go, the more you know. Learning about your own travel style will help make every trip feel like a breeze. Because the best way to get better at traveling is to get outside and see more of the world… or more of the country even. Becoming an expert traveler can help you build your confidence, acquire new tastes and even learn new skills. And if you’re trying to travel more often, saving 15% on Award Travel with your Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Amex Card helps.

Save 15% anytime you book Award Travel with miles on Delta flights when using delta.com and the Fly Delta app. Discount not applicable to partner-operated flights or to taxes and fees. Terms Apply. Learn More.

    2. Resist The Urge To Overpack

When it comes to packing, less is more. You’d be surprised how little you actually need when you don’t have it. One strategy is to make a list of what you think you need, then take out a third (or half if you’re really feeling brave). Once you take the pressure off of packing, you can free up more time to research activities to explore on your trip. Fewer/lighter bags makes the whole travel experience easier–from getting through the airport, to transferring in and out of rideshares, to unpacking at the hotel.

    3. Learn The Lingo

When traveling abroad, you should always try to learn a few key phrases in the local language. Not saying you need to be fluent before you think of traveling internationally, but at the very least, be able to get instructions to get out of the hotel, ask for basic directions or greet and thank locals in their language. Sure, English is a widely spoken language, but you’d be surprised how much more helpful people can be when you make the effort to meet them halfway. Learning the local language is a great way to get more out of your trip!

    4. Let The Locals Be Your Guides

Once you befriend a few locals, take time to ask their opinions. They’ll be the best people to point you towards good eats, great adventures, and hidden gems around town. Another way to ensure you get the most authentic local experience is to hit up a nearby hostel; their staff is almost guaranteed to offer some more colorful and adventurous options. Bonus: by using your Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Amex Card on anything from local eats to unique finds at the neighborhood market, you won’t just be supporting the local economy, you’ll be getting one step closer to Medallion Status (and maybe your next trip).

Earn $1 Medallion® Qualification Dollar for each $20 of purchases made on your Card in a calendar year and get a boost toward achieving Medallion Status for next Medallion Year. Terms Apply. Learn More.

    5. Take the Figurative Scenic Route

When booking flights, savvy travelers know that sometimes flying into airports close to your final destination, and then taking a train, bus, or rideshare to where you need to go is a good opportunity to squeeze more adventures into your trip. Go explore your layover city in between flights. You can even route your trip to give yourself time in a nearby city you’re curious about without committing to a full stay. If you do end up incorporating a rideshare into your extended route, you could get up to $10 back monthly when you use your Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Amex Card.

Earn up to $10 back in statement credits each month after you use your Card for U.S. rideshare purchases with select providers. Enrollment required. Terms Apply. Learn More.

    6. Find Your Go-To Travel Companion

Finding a person you travel well with is like hitting the vacation lottery. Not every friend is someone who will make your trip easier, so when you find that person, never let them go (without you). Your go-to travel companion should be someone who will open you up to new adventures, while respecting that you may do your own things every once and awhile. And, when you use the Companion Certificate benefit with a Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Amex Card, you can bring someone along. What could be more rewarding than that?

Receive a Companion Certificate on Main Cabin roundtrip flights to select destinations each year after renewal of your Card. The Companion Ticket requires payment of government-imposed taxes and fees of no more than $80 for roundtrip domestic flights and no more than $250 for roundtrip international flights (both for itineraries with up to four flight segments). Baggage charges and other restrictions apply. See terms and conditions for details. Terms Apply. Learn More.

Did this list leave you inspired and ready to conquer the world? Become the traveler you know you can be with your Delta Amex Card. There are so many experiences waiting for you, so start planning your next trip now.
